Glass Service srl has developed an advanced technology for electric furnaces used for the production of special glasses, particularly volatile glasses or where the cost of electricity makes this investment economical. A typical case when electric melting is strongly recommended is for the production of lead crystal glasses. Electric furnaces can be heated using tin oxide electrodes for oxidised glasses such as lead crystal or by molybdenum electrodes for all other cases.
The distributor and forehearths can be heated either by gas or by electricity
using resistance elements or resistance elements combined with
immersed electrodes.
