Artistic Glass Furnaces
Glass Service srl produce many designs of artistic glass furnaces. Such furnaces can be of the following types:
Day tank
Single pot
Multi pot
Micro furnaces
Glass furnace
Day Tanks
The day tank furnaces are manly used for the production of clear or coloured glass.
They are heated either by natural glass or LPG with an air preheating recuperator
installed on the combustion air circuit.
The gross output of these furnaces can be in the range 250 – 3,000 kg/day of glass. These furnace are very flexible when a batch change or a colour change is required and frequently colours are changed daily. In these furnaces the melting process is discontinuous:
- batch charging and melting phase (during the night)
- refining phase
- production phase
Melting temperatures are usually up to 1450 °C The day tank furnaces can be also equipped with a lifting base to incline the day tank for easy colour/batch changes.
Pot Furnaces
The pot furnaces are used for the production of artistic glass or special glasses.
The pot furnace can be a single or multi pot type, although today multi pot furnaces are
not very common.
Many pot furnaces have an an output of 300 to 500kg, the maximum output being limited to 1000 kg. Pot furnaces are also discontinuous:
- batch charging and melting phase (during the night)
- refining phase
- production phase
Melting temperatures are usually up to 1450 °C. They are heated either by natural gas or LPG with an air preheating recuperator installed on the combustion air circuit.
Micro Furnaces
The micro furnaces are use for glass sampling or to melt a very small quantity of glass.
The gross capacity of these furnaces is normally in the range of 50 to 250 kg of glass. They can heated either by natural gas or LGP, and can also be oxy-gas in the case of special glasses.
Glass service can produce micro furnaces that are fully pre-assembled ready to be shipped. The only requirement at site is to connect to the gas and electric supply.
The micro furnaces can be used for almost all glass types including:
Soda lime
Barium crystal
Coloured glass
Borosilicate
Optical
