The
special additional axis allows the robot to have a supplementary
vertical movement (5th axis) besides the four axis with which
it is fully integrated.
With this simple device the 4-axis robot increases its flexibility
making easier the connection between the working ends (gathering
bay) and the machines (i.e.: spinning machine, blowing machine,
etc.)
A pneumatic piston is positioned vertically besides the column
in order to balance the weight of the robot and of the vertical
axis device during the vertical translation.
The 4 axis SMART S2 robot can be supplied with an additional
axis that consents a robot to have a vertical supplementary
movement (5° axis) in addition to 4 axis with which it
is equipped.
With this simple device the robot has 5 axis and increases
flexibility making the connection between the working-end
of furnace and the forming machine easier.
This device is overhung on the holding structure of the robot
and it consists of a vertical column that translates vertically
on special rollers slides. The translation is transmitted
by means of a pinion-rack system powered by a brushless electric
motor coupled with a reduction gear. All the mechanical parts
and the sliding system are protected against dust and dirt
by means of suitable bellows.
Being the system overhung the main advantage of this solution
is that there is not any additional encumbrance on ground.
In this way it’s possible to use a robot with 4 axis
also on glass tanks where the glass level is variable (ex.
Day tanks or pot furnaces) and where it’s usually necessary
the use a 6 axis robot but with higher performances and les
encumbrance.
